August 2008 Member of the Month - David Weiss

This member is the "baby" of five kids, born to Oliver & Marie in Mendota, Illinois. He is unmarried but has two "four-legged" kids named Barron, and a Elsa.

He attended the University of Illinois, San Diego State University, and Claremont Graduate University.  He was a perpetual student from 1981 through 2005. Other then rescue, he loves Reading, the movies, and gin & tonics.

He is leaving the Leeburg area to take a teaching job up north, but promises to visit us at least once a month.

As a wee lad, he grew up in Mendota, Illinois, a farm community of about 7,000.  His dad was manager of a farm center, and his mom was a nurses' aide.  He volunteered for several years with the Mendota Community Ambulance Service, worked as a "bag boy" for one of the local grocery stores, attended church three times per week, and graduated from a high school class of four.
